Dear Boris,
I’m thrilled at the way you are tackling the Mayorship and the way it is going forward.

As a keen Motorcyclist of Harley-Davidsons, (I’m also a motorist) and recently at the ACE Café where the police run Think! Motorcycle advanced courses, which I have partaken, a senior officer told me that as of January 2009, ALL bus lanes in London will be available to Motorcyclists. (As a user of the Finchley Road, I must admit that being able to use the Bus Lane is a great help. )

Can you please confirm that this is a reality?

Best Regards
Steven Taylor

Dear Mr Taylor,
I would like to thank you for your email to the Mayor dated 29 September 2008 seeking more information on the proposal to allow motorcycles to use bus lanes. Your positive comments have been noted.

Under the Mayor’s direction, Transport for London (TfL) officials are looking into the introduction of allowing motorcycles in red route bus lanes, which cover five per cent of London’s road network and account for 40 per cent of London’s bus lanes.

To introduce a scheme like this has many layers of complexity and requires a series of new arrangements to be put in place, including legal and operational requirements. Appropriate notification to the community is required too.

At this point, this is all the detail I have, but more information will be available in due course.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to contact us regarding this matter. Should you require assistance with any further issues, please feel free to contact me.

Yours sincerely

Ban on big motorcycles for younger novice riders
By Ben Webster Transport Correspondent - Daily Mail 27 Jan 05

YOUNG adults will be banned from riding powerful motorcycles under proposals from the European Parliament.

Riders under 25 will have to gain two years' experience on a low-powered bike before they can use the road on larger models.

The plans are designed to simplify licensing laws across the European Union and reduce the number of crashes caused by inexperienced riders.

The number of motorcicle deaths rose by 14 per cent to 693 in 2003, but the Motorcycle Industry Association said that most of those killed were men aged over 25.

HARLEY-DAVIDSON INTRODUCES THREE MOTORCYCLES

MILWAUKEE (January 24, 2005) - Harley-Davidson expands its model offerings with an all-new 2006 VRSCR Street Rod, a big bore 15th Anniversary Edition 2005 Fat Boy and dirt track-inspired 2005 Sportster 883R.
“Custom motorcycles are our passion,” said Bill Davidson, Harley-Davidson director of marketing, motorcycle product development. “That passion inspired the styling and performance of these three motorcycles, which reflect the spirit of Harley-Davidson.”

Each of the newest Harley-Davidson motorcycles carves its own niche while remaining true to the heritage of its respective model family. And each provides an unmistakable statement of individual style.

Highlights of the 2006 VRSCR Street Rod:

The roadster-inspired VRSCR Street Rod sets a new standard and a bold direction for the VRSC family combining style and performance in equal measure. The newest member of the VRSC family is decidedly more aggressive with its upright riding position, inverted front forks, 40-degree lean angle, 1130cc Revolution V-Twin engine and tuned suspension.

Highlights of the 2005 15th Anniversary Edition FLSTFI Fat Boy:

For 15 years the Fat Boy has ruled the heavyweight cruiser class by blending classic hardtail styling with a heart-pounding counter-balanced V-Twin engine. The 15th Anniversary Edition Fat Boy commemorates the model’s journey with an extra helping of chrome, performance and style.

Its signature solid disc wheels have been chromed, making a visual statement that’s as powerful as it is custom. The two color options—Vivid Black and Brilliant Silver, a nod to the original color introduced in 1990—are complemented by a matched paint scheme on its counter-balanced V-Twin motor. A 24K gold-plated tank emblem and unique Badlander-inspired, double-stitched seam seat, gold striped air cleaner cover, timer cover and ignition switch plate are unique custom treatments.

Driving that point home is a big bore, fuel-injected 1550cc Twin Cam 95 engine producing 87.1-ft.-lbs. of torque at 4000 rpm. It’s counterbalanced and solid-mounted to deliver the Softail’s tightly-framed, timeless style and strong roll-on power with just the right amount of feedback to the rider. The 15th Anniversary Fat Boy will be available until June 2005, while supplies last.

Highlights of the 2005 Sportster XL883R:

The Sportster XL883R pays tribute to the famed Harley-Davidson XR dirt track racers with eye-catching, race-inspired styling elements. Most noticeable are the blacked-out Evolution powertrain and race-ready 883R graphics on the classic, orange 3.3-gallon fuel tank.

A staggered shorty dual exhaust system and dual front disc brakes reflect the 883R’s competitive DNA. Blacked-out components like fork sliders, headlamp eyebrow, handlebars, air cleaner cover and rear shock springs enhance its distinctive style and make it a fun bike to ride.

Like all 2005 model year Sportsters, the 883R offers uncompromised comfort and handling thanks to its redesigned-in-2004 Evolution engine that’s rubber-mounted to a stronger, more rigid frame.

BAZA SAYS

May I inform you that if your key fob does not work due to interference from a BT or Mbl phone type transmitter then you have a very red face pushing your scoot 'till you are out of the Signal while all the time the alarm is going off, and all your mates and the public laugh there cotton socks off. This could also be the case if the battery has run out. There may be a factory fitted code which you must check with your dealer or they might have already done one for you which would be the same for all the scoots they sell. In the owner's manual it explains it all.
Anyway when you programme a personal code into your scoot then all you have to do is turn ignition switch to Accessories and using the left indicator switch press in the first number of your code and using the right indicator switch enter the number continue with this until your 5 numbers are in then Hey Presto turn ignition to start and your little red light in the speedo has stopped flashing and you can start up without needing the remote ...also works if you loose your fob as long as the steering and ignition switch has not been locked.

WARNING scoots HAVE been stolen using the factory or stealer settings so you must personalise your pride and joy.......Baza.. (done mine)

REAR-VIEW HELMET
The Br!tish helmet-maker. Reevu, claimed a world first last
week when it unveiled the RV MSX1, a motor sport helmet
with a built-in rear-view mirror. The company. based in
Washington, Tyne and Wear, has spent 10 years developing
this product, which should save lives by giving motorcyclists a far better rearward view than is possible with fixed
handlebar mirrors. A system of mirrors in a tube over the top of the head conveys a clear image of the road behind to the viewing mirror just above eye level. The mirrors are made of polycarbonate, which is almost unbreakable and
saves weight. The MSX1 will cost around £280. Expect to see it in the shops early next year.

6 November 2003 - Baza's friend Barrie was playing rock at the club, so after the usual Hard Rock cafe night we got round to what was a very exciting evening. Cosy little club, whose owner Alexandria, a gorgeous blonde American made us very welcome and would like to have us there once a month as a regular HARLEY night!

The club is decorated in US Rock n Roll style and above and behind the bar, coming through the wall "Vegas Style" is this huge real half Harley, tank airbrushed with the club logo.

Live Rock music every night and the special treat is thnat all the gorgeous young bartenders get up on the bar and dance.... Phew!

The Harley-Davidson V-ROD
I've heard it said, no whispered, that the V-Rod is not really a proper Harley.
I for one was smitten on my test ride last September… to ride a "normal" Harley is like being married for 25 years, and then the V-Rod is like going out with a mistress 15 years your junior, she invigorates you, you find stamina that you thought was long gone.
You start making excuses to go out with her, you shower her with presents, like chrome foot pegs, braided oil pipes, stage one and those gorgeous "blow-out" cans, and you take her to show off to your friends, watch their jaw drop with envy when they see her in all her fine jewellery and trim figure, instead of that over bloated Harley back in doors with that big fat arse, sorry saddlebags!

You shower her with even more presents, new saddle, sissy bars, clock, chromed sprockets, upper and lower chromed belt guards - oooooooooh! Stop it, I feel the urge to go to my garage and v e r y s l o w l y take off her cover to reveal those drop dead gorgeous blue twinkling lights and the red alarm light that beats like her little heart, listen to her throb when the fuel injection, overhead cams and liquid cooling engine bursts into song!
Run a soft cloth ever so gently over the air cover, watch your reflection in that shiny paintwork…… THEN you realise that you need new gear to be seen out with her, you start with those great leather jackets with tassels or Harley emblazoned on the back, those lids with airbrushed scenery and the limited edition colours for 2003, those tight blue jeans or too-tight leather trousers, you strut like a young blood around town.

NOT A PROPER HARLEY????

I'd like to meet ONE Harley owner who doesn't hanker for a mistress 15 years their junior! Go on leave that old bird at home and take out a REAL Harley the
