Help with Insurance Premium - 22 Mar 04

Its time to renew my insurance, and I'm currently with Harley Insurance. Anybody have any recommendations? Should I get some competitive quotes? I paid £350 last year on my new Fatboy, does that sound OK?
Dave Holland

Hi Dave - 22 Mar 04
Problem is that Harley alarms are not Thatcham approved, so if you go elsewhere you'll have the added expense of fitting another alarm, so not much choice.
But £350 sounds OK, depends on No Claim Bonus

I have 4 years and for my VROD Value £21,000 I pay £318, 3,000 miles and £200 excess , and as my second bike, new Road King Classic value £14,000 and additional £177 £200 excess, no declared value and unlimited mileage.

Steven "BAD" Taylor

Re-new my existing Harley-Davidson Ins with insure underwritten by AXA Ins ...£390.00
Bikesure they e-mail me with a provisionally offer of £320.
So I'm straight on the phone and then they ask for confirmation of what was on the internet form then they ask me to hold while they try and work out a better price..Low and behold it is now £455.00 What w@nkers a blatant lie / con, in there provisional offer a price of £320. Just to get you to ring back I said I would give them some very negative publicity.…

Oh what a surprise they came back a littlelater and said £380.00 sorry he had made a mistake..
I then tried MCE Ins who Sharkie and Bub are with it came in at £363.00

So I now ring my original insure underwritten by AXA to give them a chance to do better and hey presto beat the lot £345.75. Thank-you cheque in the post before they change their minds...That's better than last years with unlimited mileage I have done 10.7 K since 24 th March last year. I'm a happy boy..

Gigs, ACE and Brighton - 21 Mar 04

Great time last night at Lees gig in Leighton Buzzard a good turn out of the BRR guys. Well done to Lee and his band.
Also today:- Bloody shame we missed to ride out to The Ace but we had a great day out in Brighton yes it was windy but we had a great ride did not even get wet only a bit of spray after the downpour which we missed. Some loverly old vintage bikes in Minerva Drive fish and chips and SUNSHINE. Got back to Taggs at 3.45pm so Darren could leave his bike for an oil leak to be sorted tomorrow. Also found a nice Trike for Del! And a old AJS V twin for Steve Taylor...Baza.....

Joe (shiner) said yesterday that if he went to Brighton he would get 'Blown Off' Well we spent a good long lunch time down there, Craig and Darren and myself and we all used the local facilities and we didn't get 'Blown Off'. I think people have the wrong conception of the sunny sarf coastal resort of Brighton.
And we were all in leathers..Ooh arh matron.

 Enjoy Riding

Hi Everyone
I just love crusing on my bike and appreciating the beautiful weather we have here ,is the weather good to ride in or shit, it depends on how we feel and nothing else, is it that we ride to feel good or to get rid of some shit.
So lets enjoy riding and agree a best way of riding out next time we meet.
I am really grateful to our webmaster for this medium, and long may he endure, he is correct in stating his position and I suggest that we cooool and chat next time.

 Waht's this Crap.. 17 Mar 04

Hi Steve
What's all the crap about riding, safety has to be a consideration as we have newer riders who don,t know the system. A simple briefing before we go would help as well as making riders aware of what's expected from them on the ride. We might not be ready for the drop off system, and we certainly don't want to be cramped by bureaucracy. But we do want safety. BRR was created for good enjoyable riding with a good bunch of people and that is what it should be, a little bit of planning and organisation will only help.
PS Rats, stay free, ride easy and enjoy what we have created.
Next club night there will be coned off area at the back of the Southern Cross. The entrance is down the side on the left as you come in off the road. There is also a rear entrance which Joe Shiner will be pleased!!
