drops tools- by Baza - Road King - 23 Mar 04
| To
save the risk of dropping tools or bolts etc. on my front fender when the bike's
in my garage i lay an old wool sweater over the mudgaurd. The sleeves can
be wrapped around each fork leg and its cheaper than buying a Harley protection
cover.

had a squeek - by Baza - Road King
| I
wondered what was rubbing and it turns out that the front sprocket of the drive
belt when it gets wet after a wash down or a ride out and during the night it
forms a slight layer of rust cause its made of steel, so in the morning or next
ride there is this belt to rust / rubber squeak, so when you have finished cleaning
the bike and dried it off to your best intentions give the inside of the drive
belt a little spray with Mr Sheen or similar it has a drop of silicone in it and
it stops the rubber to rust noise.
If on a bike lift
this is easy whilst turning the rear wheel. Baza

loverly chromework! - 22 Mar 04
| All
your loverly chromework! "how best to look after it?", Windowleen, that's
what they use as some other polishes wear down the chrome and eventually breakthrough
to the nickel. I have used it and it gives one hell of a deep luster. It is also
very good at removing S100 and cheaper than most polishes. Another tip
I have been given is applying talc to the surface, then WD40, rub it in then wax.
Apparantly this is a trick of the trade by some restorers. As chrome
is porous the talc grips to the surface, absorbs the WD, then is sealed by the
wax. I have not tried it, so can't comment. I hope this is of help to
some of you. Please let Rats tips know if you are aware of any others.
